The Naltar Valley has a total of three lakes which are collectively known as Naltar Lakes or Bashkiri Lakes. They are located at an altitude ranging in between 3,050 metres to 3,150 metres. The Naltar valley is located in Gilgit – Baltistan and it is widely known for its wildlife and charming mountainous scenery. On average the city of Gilgit – Baltistan has a total of 2000 lakes and each lake is different from one another. It is considered to be one of the largest fresh water reservoirs that exists in the world today.

The Naltar Valley is famously known for the Naltar lakes, lush green forests and snowcapped mountains especially during the winter season. The place is mostly visited by people travelling via silk road, KKH i.e. Karakoram Highway and CPEC i.e. China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Many tourists have labelled it as the land of fairies or true paradise due to which it experiences influx of tourists in the Summer holiday season. In the winter season the tourists visit the place to participate in the National Skating Championship, which is held mainly in the month of January.
